Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Where can we park?
A: Parking is available at Greenway Elementary School. It is possible to park on some surrounding streets but this is strongly discouraged to lessen our impact on the neighborhood.
Q: Where is the Start/Finish located?
A: The Start/Finish is located next to the tennis courts & playground at the corner of SW Greenway Blvd and SW Parkview Loop. We will be staged at the covered structure there.
Q: Are there restrooms available?
A: Porta-potties will be at the Start/Finish. We will not provide restrooms along the course.
Q: Will there be an awards ceremony?
Q: Is there a bag check?
Q: What’s an out-and-back course?
A: The 10k will follow the course through the Fanno Creek Regional Trail to a turn-around point and retrace your exact path to return to the finish line.
Q: Does this event count towards the 10k Series points?
Q: How long is the course open?
A: The Start line will close at 9:00 a.m. and the Finish line will close at 10:30 a.m. due to permit provisions. Since you can arrive anytime during 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. please plan accordingly.
Q: Won’t the park get crowded?
A: Yes and No. It will always be a possibility that the park could see heavy use especially if the weather is nice. To help ease the traffic on the trail system we use a Time Trial format that allows participants to show up whenever they want during a 2-hour window.
Q: Can I run/walk with my friends?
A: Yes. We will release participants in groups of no more than 5 at a time at regular intervals. This is to help spread participants out.
Q: Is this race chip-timed?
A: Yes. A chip time will be used to record official results across the finish line.
Q: Are the streets/trails closed for this event?
A: No. It’s Labor Day so street traffic will be lighter but the park is open to all users. Please exercise caution on the course.
Q: Can I run with a GPS watch?
A: Yes. Understand that any dense tree cover will heavily impact the accuracy of GPS devices.
Q: What sort of terrain will we run on?
A: The course is entirely within the Fanno Creek Regional Trail system and it is paved. There are two street crossings if you are running/walking the 10K.
Q: How many water stations are on the course?
A: There are two water stations along the out-and-back course. You will access the water stations three times.
Q: Can I run with a stroller?
A: We highly discourage strollers at all ORRC events. With that said, this course does take place entirely in a park with the exception of the two street crossings for the 10K. Again, the park is not closed to other users so there will be bicycles, children, dogs, runners/walkers and disc golfers.
Q: Can I run with headphones?
A: The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, Greenway Trail Trial encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of Greenway Trail Trial.
Refunds are not allowed for this race.
