Ralph’s Run – 20.24K, 10K & 5K

Formerly the ORRC Y2K Run, now Ralph’s Run in honor of longtime ORRC member Ralph Brown, this event moves back to its original premise of a changing distance every year. Ralph introduced this in 1986 as the 8.6 in ’86, in which it was an 8.6 mile race. In 1987, that distance shifted up to an 8.7 mile race. This format continued through 9.9 in ’99. The event has also included a 10K throughout the years. the 5K was added in 2024. For the year 2000, ORRC changed the distance to a 20K and called the race the Millennium Run. From 2001 through 2014, distance was added to match the year (for example, 20.01k in 2001), and the event became known as Y2K. From 2015 to 2023, the distance was simplified to a half marathon.

From 2024 forward it will be known as Ralph’s Run, and returns to its premise of increasing its long distance event with the new year, in 2024, as a 20.24K in 2024. (You get a new PR every year based on the unique distance!) To remain inclusive of walkers, it also features a 10K run/walk and, as of 2024, we’re adding a 5K run/walk and a kids’ run.

• Free Kids Run 1/4 Mile: $0

• Optional Souvenir Shirt – $20

A race shirt is available for $20. Only pre-registered participants are guaranteed a shirt; some may be available day of race.

Packet Pickup

• Early pick-up is at Tom McCall East on Friday January 5th from 4pm to 6pm.  Day of race pick-up starts at 7:30am. Bring your phone for dynamic bib assignment.

Race Course

20.24K Course

All courses start and finish at Tom McCall Upper Elementary School (1341 Pacific Ave) in Forest Grove, covering back roads through scenic wine country.  The 20.24K and 10K races are together for the first three miles, then split, then rejoin for the last 1.5 miles. This is not a closed course, so please be cautious of traffic and follow the Rules of the Road (e.g. keep left going against traffic).

10K Course
