Founded in 1970, the Oregon Road Runners Club (ORRC) was established as a membership-based Oregon nonprofit per its Articles of Incorporation in 1977, soon after obtaining Federal 501 (c)(3) status from the IRS in 1978. As such we are bound to comply with section 501(c)(3) of the Federal IRS Internal Revenue Code and Oregon Nonprofit law (ORS.65), certain Oregon Department of Justice reporting requirements, as well as our own club’s bylaws. ORRC’s Bylaws were recently fully revised in 2023, effective January 1, 2024.
We are also a nonprofit running club member of the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA). As such, membership with ORRC confers individual RRCA membership to all ORRC members as well. The RRCA serves as a great resource for race management resources including Safe Event Guidelines, Fair Competition, Race Director Certification, Coach Certification, and other event management and safe sport policies and programs. Many past ORRC members have served as Oregon State Representative to the RRCA and many past ORRC events have been designated State or Regional RRCA Championship events.
Those serving as members of the ORRC Board of Directors, Race Directors, and many others who oversee club programs and operations are all ORRC members who volunteer their time to help make the club a better place for all who aspire to run and walk.
