Dave’s Solstice Run at Blue Lake

Join us in celebrating the summer solstice with Dave’s Solstice Run 5K at Blue Lake. There will also be a free Kids fun run.

This event is named after Dave Green, a long-time ORRC member and volunteer. Dave was an active board member, joining in 1981, and becoming president in 1992. Race director for multiple events, including the original Blue Lake Runs, Dave was also the “Treasurer Extraordinaire” and was instrumental in helping the club through some tough times financially in the past. This event epitomizes Dave Green, and his love for low-key, family friendly events.

Blue Lake Regional Park

We are excited to present this race at this lovely park! Blue Lake Park has been closed for renovations since September 2023 and will just have just reopened on Saturday, May 25, 2024.

At Blue Lake Park we will need everyone to respect their policies:

• Dogs are strictly not permitted: No dogs, nor any other pets, not even in vehicles.
• Strollers are allowed.
• The park closes at 8:00 pm (park gates will be locked at this time).

Day use fees (parking passes) per vehicle are included for participants. Carpooling is encouraged. We will provide light refreshments.

Details

• Course: We will have a simple, non-certified two-lap course that will take you on partly on bike path and trails/path, no road, run entirely in Blue Lake Park. View Course Map on Strava.
• Time Limit: Due to the park closing at 8:00pm, there is a hard cutoff for finishing the course by 7:30 pm.
• Parking: Parking is included in your race entry. Pick up your parking pass when you pick up your bib number at registration pick-up
• Food: In the tradition of the old Blue Lake and Summer Solstice events, ORRC will be providing popsicles for everyone!

The 2024 event is the inaugural event, so no previous results are available. However, ORRC used to hold the Blue Lake event at the same park, and also used to hold a Summer Solstice run.
