The 2025 Dual Duel events will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. (Note, per tradition, this is a weekday evening).

  • The 2025 Dual Duel will take place at Cleveland High School (not Catlin Gabel).

  • Kids Run (400 m or 1 lap around the track)
  • Dual Duel 2-person 10 Mile Relay (Run or RaceWalk)
  • Quad Relay a version of the Dual Duel but for 4-person teams (Run or Race Walk)

Dual Duel (Two-Person 10 Mile Track Relay) or Quad Relay

Classic 10-mile relay on the track. Sign up either as a run or race walk.

Dual Duel

Dual Duel

  • Dual Dual: After running a lap one partner hands the baton (timing chip inside) to their partner, who runs a lap and passes it back to the first partner.
  • Quad Relay: The baton cycles through a group of 4 rather than alternating between partners. In addition, again this year, there will be a quad relay. There is both a run event and a race walk event.

In this event, 10 miles means about 40 laps on this metric track. We ensure it’s exactly 10 miles, by making the first lap 493.4 meters. All other laps are 400 meters. You decide the running order of your teammates among your 2-person (Dual Duel) or 4-person (Quad Relay) team.

  • Runner or Racewalker #1 of each team will do the first 493.4-meter lap, then transfer the baton (which includes a timing chip) to Runner/Racewalker #2 within the length of track reserved for the Exchange Zone.
  • If doing the Dual Duel,
    • Once Runner/Racewalker #2 arrives back around to the Exchange Zone, it is transferred back to Runner/Racewalker #1.
    • You’ll each run 20 laps (5 miles) to complete the 10 miles total.
  • If doing the Quad Relay,
    • Once Runner/Racewalker #2 arrives back around to the Exchange Zone, it is transferred to Runner/Racewalker #3,
    • Runner/Racewalker #3 will complete a lap and once back at the Exchange Zone, transfer the baton to Runner/Racewalker #4.
    • Runner/Racewalker #4 will complete a lap and once back at the Exchange Zone, transfer the baton to Runner/Racewalker #1.
    • You’ll each run 10 laps (2.5 miles) to complete the 10 miles total.

Free Kids 400-m Run

ORRC loves to provide a fun run for kids at events. Bring the kids for 1 lap around the track. It’s free because ORRC wants to make events family friendly and give you a reason to bring and encourage the kids to participate, too.

Registration

The tentative schedule below to help you plan. Volunteers are welcome and most appreciated. Learn more about volunteering for ORRC. Sign up to run or to volunteer at RunSignUp. Our various volunteer shifts are posted there.
