Oregon Road Runners Club
23rd Annual Wildwood Trail Trial
Monday, September 2, 2013 (Labor Day)
This unique event runs along Portland’s scenic Wildwood Trail in Forest Park. Bring a great finish to summer by running or walking in the largest naturally forested urban park in the USA. Instead of a single start time, you may run anytime within a four hour window. This race is part of the ORRC 10K series. Walkers are welcome.
The trail is packed earth with many turns. It has mostly good surfaces, but has some rocks, roots and occasional slugs. The course starts at the junction of Wildwood Trail and Fire Lane 1, proceeds south on Wildwood Trail until the finish at Upper MacLeay Park (approx. 5151 NW Cornell Road). There is a 650 ft elevation loss in the first 5.7 miles and a 200 ft climb in the last half mile. This is NOT a closed course, so you can expect to share the trail with other runners, walkers, and leashed dogs. Please be courteous and friendly to others sharing the trail. Download a map here.
Come back later to register online or to download the race flyer(.pdf). Online registration closes 48 hours before the start of the race; mail-in must be postmarked by August 27, 2013.

PARKING AND BUSES
Parking is located at the intersection of NW Cornell and NW Skyline Blvd. (aprox. 7515 NW Cornell Road) in the two unpaved parking lots adjacent to the Skyline Restaurant. Volunteers will direct drivers where to park in the lots and monitor the lots during the race.
Please carpool with friends if possible as parking is limited. Shuttle buses between the parking area, the start and finish will be provided. The first shuttle leaves for the start at 7:30am.
DO NOT park on Forest Lane, Firelane 1 or on 53rd Ave over the white lines, or you will get a ticket. Use the shuttle bus or have someone drop you off near the start. The drive from the parking area to the start drop-off point takes about 10 minutes. The walk from 53rd/Forest Lane to the actual start on Wildwood Trail is 0.4 miles (about an 8 minute walk). Plan accordingly in order to start and finish on time.
Event participants [with bib numbers] are transported by bus from the Packet Pickup/Parking Area to Forest Lane, which is near the start of the race. Transportation is provided from the finish area, Upper MacLeay Park, back to the Packet Pickup/Parking Area. Buses run continually from the Packet Pickup/Parking Area to Forest Lane, and from the Upper MacLeay Park to the Packet Pickup/Parking Area for participants and volunteers.
This race is chip timed. Results will be available at the finish, published in the Oregon Distance Runner magazine and posted on this website and www.nspirelive.com.
START / FINISH TIMES INFORMATION
Participants may start when ready between 8am and 11:30am. The race is chip timed and you must cross the timing mats at the start and finish to get accurate results. Using Nspire, your results will be available in real time though Facebook, Twitter and at the finish line. The course closes at 12:30pm, when the chip timing system will be turned off. Whether you walk or run, please choose your start time wisely to finish the race before 12:30.
AID STATIONS AND SUPPORT
Drop bags will be provided at the parking area. Your marked drop bag will be transported to the finish area. There will be one portapotty at the start and three potties at the parking area, so best to use it before you get on the bus. Portapotties at the finish. Aid stations at miles 2 and 4. Snacks and beverages, and a random prize raffle will be at MacLeay Park after the race.
The top five finishers in each five year age group will earn ribbons. The walk is noncompetitive. Places are updated as people finish, but we won’t know final results until all have finished. Awards will be mailed.
A limited edition short sleeve tech T-shirt is available. Be sure to indicate whether you want a men’s or women’s shirt. Only pre-registered participants are guaranteed a shirt. Day of race entrants get shirts as quantities last. Register early to get yours!
This event donates part of the entry fees to Human Solutions, Inc (which supports the homeless and low income families) and Snow-Cap Community Charities (which supports families in need in East Multnomah County). Please donate new school supplies, excess running shirts and shoes in the drop box at the packet pick-up/parking area.
